Welcome To Enfield Scout Sailing Association
Charity number: 1025713
Hello and
fellow sailing people, welcome to ESSA Online.
GLN RAFT RACE Sunday 29th June 10:00 - 16:00
This is an invitation to all Scout groups in GLN to come and join us for a raft race. Bring your own barrels, paddles, rope and poles or hire our gear (need to book early if you want to use ours).
The morning is spent building the raft WITHOUT assistance from Leaders, and then the rafts are judged. There is time for some lunch whilst Leaders are allowed to make sure the rafts are fit for the purpose, make some adjustments but not complete rebuilds. Teams are then put into heats and the races begin. There will be prizes for best built raft as well as the winners of the races. Please use the Group Application form on the Website diary page. Cost £6.00 per person. Minimum 4, max 6 to a team. Groups can enter more than 1 team. Appliction forms can be downloaded here
GLN REGATTA Saturday 4th October - Practice Day (Optional)
Sunday 5th October - Regatta
To encourage those who have not sailed for a while, we will have an optional practice day on the Saturday. Fun & good seamanship is the aim of the day.
Instructors will be available to run through the basics of racing. You don’t have to be a hot shot racer. There will be prizes for winners and also for the most improved sailor. Events will be run using a handicap system so that it won’t matter which boat you sail. There will be 3 categories - Scout, Explorer and 18+. Why not make a weekend of it and camp at ESSA, Dobbs Weir or Danemead. Application form can be found here or email marion@essa.org.uk.
We now have an ESSA helpers website, where you can log on to and tell us when you can help, or look up when we need help.
Please visit http://www.essacrew.co.uk for more details. You will have to register, and to do that you will have to be on our list of approved helpers.
Donate to us, and get the HMRC to give us some extra funds.....Download and fill in our gift aid form, which can be found here

RYA Training Centre
The RYA are the main people in the UK, who look after standards, for sailing, power, etc. They have annual, and spot checks during the season to see that the standards are maintained to their level of quality. Look for the RYA sign, it lets you know you will be getting the best training available, by qualified and competent instructors.
